StoryWalks are an exciting outdoor literacy activity designed to inspire a love of reading
by combining physical activity with storytelling. Pages of a children’s book are placed on
storyboards along a walking path, inviting children to walk, run, skip, or hop between
each sign while reading and exploring the story. This fun, interactive experience
encourages physical exercise while building excitement for books and learning.
There are three StoryWalks in Fauquier County, located at Crockett Park in Midland, the
Warrenton Branch Greenway, and Brumfield Elementary School. Each StoryWalk is
updated with a new story every month, making it a great way to keep kids active,
engaged, and coming back for more learning fun.
